About Emma.

Emma is a theater maker, props person, visual storyteller and above all a collaborator.

She grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating from a creative arts high school in 2016 with a Certificate of Artistry in Stagecraft. In May of 2020 she graduated from Boston University’s School of Theater and with a BFA in Scenic Design.

During her time in the School of Theatre, Emma discovered a love for unique collaboration, new work, and connecting with her fellow theatre makers through the rehearsal process. Some of her highlighted design credits include Kirsten Greenidge’s Little Row Boat; or, Conjecture, Quentin Jun Nguyen-Duy’s Amputees, and Isabella Casado Pelz’ KIL Claps Back. Emma does not just see herself as a designer but also a deviser. For her thesis she worked alongside seven other seniors to fully devise a movement based, post apocalyptic story titled CATALYST. Emma is interested in helping to tell the stories of communities that are not always heard.

In 2020 she decided to return home to lay down roots in a city so rich with culture, art and music. During the COVID-19 lock down, Emma co founded a New Orleans based artist collective. Under the umbrella of OPEN|up she co produced multiple art based projects including Black in My Element, which she also scenic designed and devised.

In 2021 Emma began working for the props department in the film industry. She was the props production assistant for AppleTV’s Black Bird, a props assistant on AMC’s Interview with the Vampire, and a props assistant on Disney’s No One Will Save You. She also had the opportunity to be the production designer for the short film Blind Date.  Emma has also really enjoyed freelancing as a prop maker. She has had the chance to create featured props such as hand written letters, voodoo dolls, victorian hats, book illustrations and more.

Emma is excited to continue exploring different mediums of collaboration as well as helping to build the arts community in New Orleans!
